Fall Sun Outages
As we move into the fall season, you may experience a brief interruption to your television service due to a natural phenomenon called a “sun outage.”
Sun outages happen when the sun lines up with the communication satellite that delivers television signals to Earth. When this occurs, the sun’s energy can temporarily interfere with the satellite signal. While these interruptions are unavoidable, they are generally brief and typically last no more than 15 minutes at a time.
For fall 2026, the anticipated sun outage period is October 7–12. Because each satellite dish can be affected at a slightly different time, the times below represent the expected window rather than the length of an individual outage.
